The Wolves
Uploaded by: Krecika1988
Video Description:
The Gray Wolf (Canis lupus; also spelled Grey Wolf, see spelling differences; also known as Timber Wolf or Wolf) is a mammal in the order Carnivora. The Gray Wolf shares a common ancestry with the domestic dog (Canis lupus familiaris), as evidenced by DNA sequencing and genetic drift studies. Gray wolves were once abundant and distributed over much of North America, Eurasia, and the Middle East. Today, for a variety of human-related reasons, including widespread habitat destruction and excessive hunting, wolves inhabit only a very limited portion of their former range. Though listed as a species of least concern for extinction worldwide, for some regions including the Continental United States, the species is listed as endangered or threatened.

Yeah okay, for the sake of a couple thousand animals let's completely ruin the lives of 100 million + people (not counting the billion who will lose everything due to the indirect effects) and cause the socioeconomic collapse of the world market and start the worst crises the civilized world will have ever faced. Please leave your childish responses behind when you make suggestions.

to ElectricCrown666: again you post ridiculous stuff. do you even have $100 million+ people in the states with wolves? What's the population of those states? And if they do live in those states with no access to supermarkets, it's too bad for them. People should live closer to other people (i.d. cities and not in the middle of nowhere), it's healthier for their psychological well-being.
to ElectricCrown666 ... ( 1 day ago by eskat3)
to ElectricCrown666: all of your arguments are based on "will" and "what if" wolves start attacking. It hasn't happened -- it's not a problem. A few incidents of attack are not sufficient grounds for exterminating the wolf population. It's inhumane and bad for the ecosystem. People are much more at risk of being harmed/killed by other people rather than by some animals that have been pushed to small wildlife reservations or confined in zoos.
And it is not a ... ( 1 day ago by eskat3)
And it is not a problem if they occasionally kill livestock. The ranchers get compensation for each animal killed by wolves. We are not going to starve if the wolves eat a couple of sheep. Most people in this country are overweight, they consume too much food and especially meat. It's disgusting! Go to Europe -- people are much skinnier and better-looking. Obesity, over-eating and excessive meat consumption in the USA are much bigger problems than wolves.

Removing people ... ( 1 day ago by ElectricCrown666)
Removing people from wolf territory would mean not only removing the people where wolves live now, but removing the people where wolves originally roamed before human intervention. Wolves originally controlled almost the entire United States, and only the southeast (Georgia, Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, etc.) have never contained wolves in the past. Throw in all of Canada, and 100 million is a conservative number. Maybe 233 million is better?
Oh yes, too bad for ... ( 1 day ago by ElectricCrown666)
Oh yes, too bad for those without supermarket, since it's totally their fault that they live there, even though many of them are people who were born there and can't leave yet, or are Native Americans who have lived on that land for millennia and have cultural reasons for staying, we should just let them starve. You can't just say too bad and then let them get screwed, that's like dismissing a theft or murder because, well, the person lived in a dangerous neighborhood, so it's their fault.
You have to care ... ( 1 day ago by ElectricCrown666)
You have to care for everyone in your country/state. They live in little communities that they probably enjoy just fine, or else they would move. Not everyone likes the noisy cities. And they're not living by themselves; some towns have a population that reaches hundreds of people. As long as youre not the only one living in an area you should be fine. And some people may like being alone. I'm surprised you talk of psychological well-being though, as I thought you said psychology was stupid.
Even though your ... ( 1 day ago by ElectricCrown666)
Even though your statements that problems haven't happened yet are untrue, that's still no excuse. Take a predicament and apply the same logic, and you'll see whats wrong. Global warming hasn't put any of us underwater yet, so we don't have to do anything about it. We have enough water and food for now (even though it's not distributed equally), so let's not do anything about it until it becomes a massive worldwide problem.
The Avian Bird flu ... ( 1 day ago by ElectricCrown666)
The Avian Bird flu isn't transmittable from human to human so far, so let's wait until it is before we do anything about it. Iran doesn't have nuclear weapons yet, so there's no need to try and defend against them or negotiate with them until they do. As you can see, such logic that if it hasn't happened hitherto, then we shouldn't try to resolve it is ridiculous. Haven't you ever heard of a preemptive strike? It makes absolutely no sense to wait until we have pandemonium to start hunting.
We will have to ... ( 1 day ago by ElectricCrown666)
We will have to hunt them sooner or later, so might as well cut our losses and make it sooner, seeing as how even if we wait, wolves die anyway. And besides, it is a problem now. First of all, I don't know how many times I've said it, but no one is "exterminating" anything. It's only management, which means lowing the population, not extirpating the species. Second, it's not just "A few incidents of attack".
Haven't I already ... ( 1 day ago by ElectricCrown666)
Haven't I already mentioned the elk population of Yellowstone be reduced by 50%, and hunting opportunity around the park being reduced by 90%, as well as reduced ungulate numbers in other parts of the country, or the tens of thousands of dollars in damages done to a few individuals which creates hardship in an economy like ours, or the subsistence hunters in Alaska who aren't getting the needed moose? And also, I think one human death is already too many.
There's only so ... ( 1 day ago by ElectricCrown666)
There's only so much we can do about humans killing humans, but if wolf management can save one human life, then it's worth it. There's no reason to wait until tens of thousands of losses turn into hundreds of thousands, darn it, it's not like wolves are in danger of going extinct now. Ranchers only receive compensation if they can prove that wolves killed their livestock, and proving it isn't always so easy.
Meanwhile, the ... ( 1 day ago by ElectricCrown666)
Meanwhile, the funds that go to those who can prove it come from Defenders of Wildlife, who could be using those resources to help protect animals that are actually in danger of going extinct. We're not so stupid as to kill so many wolves that it harms the ecosystem. Like I said before, we have to make sure the wolves' positive effects stay above their negative effects, which can only be done with population control.
The consumers ... ( 1 day ago by ElectricCrown666)
The consumers aren't the ones who are harmed, it's the farmers who take the blow, and so saying that we should stop eating so much and that we won't starve is irrelevant. The USA has a lot of problems, but that doesn't mean we should only focus on one, such as obesity and people being at a higher risk of being killed by other people. We need to address all the problems.
