Well the video that I gathered to piece this together was composed of clips I found off of BlueHarvest and other websites. The only clip of the intro that was available was in black and white. I don't know of any other sources for that content.

I don't think there is anything much more on this. This is the most complete thing I've seen and it's pretty sweet, from a completist standpoint.

I think it was a good thing they cut this out because it WOULD HAVE MADE THE MOVIE WEAK AS HELL.With the battle on tantive five afterward the action would have come fromnowhere and also Then Vader would'nt be depicted as such a badass.

Does anybody else think it's weird that Biggs supports Luke joining the Academy, when he himself is about to join the Rebels because he is against the Empire? Also why is Biggs afraid of being drafted into Imperial service? Isn't he already IN imperial service, being that he went to the Academy?

Hmm aye it's a bit weird but I guess they don't consider this scene canon. I guess they provide a good education at the academy or something along those lines.

This seen was important in that Biggs influence Luke to join the rebellion. It should have been put back in the DVD version, I cannot belive George Lucas said that he lost this sceen, and some how this guy found it and restored it. thank you Broken Toe for doing this I am a big Star Wars fan and episode 4 is my all time favorite. I did not like the added special effects that Lucas did for the rerelease.

Awesome cut scene, but it's almost like a prologue to the movie and it isn't really needed. I've taken one semester of screenwriting to know this scene is terribly weak and expository and that it was much better to start with the battle scene. So it's a good thing it was cut out.

The Academy is probably the only place to get training, and schooling. Plus an easy way to get off planet.
Going to the Academy is only a foothold and then comes the draft. Although it does seem a bit odd to not draft first to the Academy. It could be that the Academy is a remnant of the Old Republic, if that's the case then a military draft might not fit with the institution. It's only after you're do
ne with the schooling you end up being drafted. *shrugs*

This WHOLE scene was cut because the girl in the scene was doing porn, Lucas didn't want the publicity. This scene would have made the entire movie flow better. A better understanding of the war, the rebellion and the decisions Luke made. Shame.

Yep, the girl was from denmark and had done 8 to 10 very hard adult scenes by the time she did the starwars stuff. Not very good publicity for a pg-13 film. Editing her face would just have people ask the question, who is that girl? again, it would lead back to her porn films.
Theres at least 6 to 8 missing scenes from the original trilogy. Two noteable ones, a sand storm in ROTJ after the Jabba Palace scene, and one in ESB with C-3PO re-directing imperial troops into a wampa containment hold.

I had no idea this was actually filmed. I remember reading this dialogue, it was posted in Starlog magazine in the early 80's when I was a kid. Nice to actually see what it was like.
