Julia made it acceptable to make mistakes while cooking. She showed us to just keep on going. It all worked out in the end. She was a charmer.

She's french and has a very light french accent. You can barely hear it though, but I can see why some people would mistake it for a rather fake-ish British accent.

She is NOT French - she is from California. Her parents were from New England, though, and that explains the somewhat English sound of her speech.

I found this video trying to write an article/biography about her. I had never seen her up until now, and man was I missing out!!! In fact, I ordered one of her shows off of Netflix, and I'm going to put it to the top of the queue. Shame on me for going to cooking school and never seeing Julia Child!!! :( I agree with what people have said here; she is fun and she really draws you in. Juila Child is awesome and very loveable!

"a dollop of oil oil, put in with dash because this is public cooking." LOL. Julia was funny, and her style of talking made her easy to parody. But seen today what stands out for me are her clarity of instruction and articulate word choice. Entertaining she was, but she was a teacher first.
