Leonard would be the first to admit that that he's no singer, he's gracious enough to laugh about his ability to carry a tune, although he's a pretty good music writer as this tune would attest. He's also an amazing poet, a genius in fact who wrote this amazing piece. What gives you the right to refer to him with such lack of respect. "it"??? You've got no class.

no, he didn't - they both copied Cohen, Anyway John Cale was the fist cover, 1991, Buckley's came after that in 1994, so technically you could say that Buckley copied both Cale and Cohen

Well Obviously Cohen wrote the song. Wainwright "copied" Buckley because he took Buckley's rendition of Cohen's song and sang it in the same style, etc. Using a Piano instead of Guitar. That is what I mean.
