Only two of your messages came up on the first page, and both implied he had died himself .. people do it all the time, saying someone famous has died which gullible people believe. I appologise.

deano27671, do you know that between the 550 and the 650 metre mark that this particular 100m was run in about 15 seconds flat? Incredibly, porcupines can also accomplish the same feat. Why is George Bush commentating in the background, deano27671? "With one lap to go .." - well do you know? the fastest 1321 to 1338 metres for a 1500 of all time!!!! (I think.)

I would have liked Coe had had today's doping tests, especially blood tests. Can anybody explain to me how British runners were 25 years ago 5 seconds faster in 1500 than they are nowadays? I think I know the answer
Silly comment! They ... ( 2 months ago by deano27671)
Silly comment! They aren't prepared to put the effort in these days and haven't the mental attitude and ruthlessness to succeed. You could ask why we don't have any Decathletes within 400 points of Daley Thompson? Does that mean he was on drugs!? There wasn't really any drugs about then that could benefit middle distance athletes, and it is widely known that Coe was more tested than any other at the time.
What you should be ... ( 2 months ago by deano27671)
What you should be asking is how strange that all the middle & long distance records from 1500m upwards were all smashed beyond recognition (and at an exponentially phenomenal rate in terms of evolutionary rates) from 1992 up to around 2004, when EPO emerged and was undetectable!? There were some "blood doping" in the 70's, but the benefits of this are negligible compared to EPO.
-No effort/attitude ... ( 2 months ago by carlotapuig)
-No effort/attitude in today's British youth? No valid argument, current GB cyclists & female long distance runners prove that wrong
-As u've said there's blood doping in the 80's.
Of course the 90's were the EPO era...and the 80's were the doping decade in all athletics disciplines. Doping tests were ridiculous in the 80's & u know that. Don't get me wrong, I don't only have my doubts about British middle distance stars in the 80's, I doubt all amazing performances in athletics in the 80's
I never made a ... ( 2 months ago by deano27671)
I never made a general comment about British youth today! Where are these world beating female long distance runners that you allude to!? Paula Radcliffe is in her early 30's and hasn't won anything major in a few years now. No disrespect to cyclists, but didn't a British rower from '04 win a cycling gold in Beijing? Have you seen any of the documentaries or read any books on Coe, Ovett et al? It takes 10 years of hard graft and intense sessions to become a 1500m record holder.

Oh, they are some female British long distance runners at world's top level: Mara Yamauchi, Liz Yelling, Hayley Yelling, Jo Pavey... they're highly respected in the international running scene. Among the males I can only think of Mohammed Farah as a runner who is really known abroad.
