well, honestly, i think the main reason was, that he was singing all songs with a very strong passion during the eighties, just listen to the hawkmoon 269-live-version from sydney. that was just before his voice started to crack during lovetown. but anyway, i love the stuff they do. no matter how.

this probably has no meaning whatsoever but i have to say it U2 has influenced a lot of genres , even metal , sepultura from brazil covered this song and fear factory covered i will fallow which proves U2= one of the best of the 80`s , probably the best band of the 80`s

SHOWTIME in the us, aired this the night this was recorded live. AT the end when bono is singing with the umbrella and it sounds like his mic goes out or you can faintly hear him. My guess is for the DVD years later, they did not want to pay the rights as Bono sings a bit from WEST SIDE STORY: he says "la la la America, I want to live in America ..." as he has his hat out.
