but hey i got a question about that, cant you use the same mic set up the same way as to when ur singing in it but then when you decide to scream or yell or sing alot louder into it you just hold the mic farther away from your mouth? Chester bennington of Linkin park did that at this same concert when they played there and he used the same mic all concert, and alot of their songs do softer singing, then might go right into a screamo type scream or louder singing for a part of the song

yes, you can just pull away from the mic- this is definitely something that people who are just singers do a lot. when you've got a guitar to play, however, having things on stands and not having to think about distance from mic when you really get into the song...that can be helpful. it also depends on your sound tech and how on the ball they are or even just their personal style. my brother and i both have different techniques for running sound and we even learned from the same people.
