The martial arts irrefutably come from India and was spread by Buddhist monks who brought it to China and beyond. For the first 1000 years the martial arts were practiced only in Buddhist temples as Chuan Fa (closed fist of the Buddhist Dharma) in China & in Japan as "Tenjiku Naranokaku" or "Indian battlefield practices"). Erm, saying the Bodhidharma is not from India is like saying Karate did not come from China.
In Malayalam, "bodhi" means brains, intelligect, etc. This is a common term for most languages in India. Dharma... I am not sure there is a Malayalam term for that, but in North India, dharma is duty. Bodhidharma would mean "Intelligence, duty" in most parts of India. Still think the Bodhidharma

Well, the weapons they use are flexible and long. It's not possible to stab with those. It would be like trying to thread a string through a needle. Though when using short weapons, there is stabbing.

they have small shields because it is easy to carry while doing dangerous manouvers with the swords or the whips and if you loot carefully some also have little iron semi circle balls in the front of them about 4 of them this is so they can use the sield as a weapon to like wack the person in the face or what not
