I dont really know much about final fantasy, ive only played the game on psp but i'm pretty sure that game has NOTHING to do with the movies. But i still love watching the final fantasy music videos especially if the song is by evanescence or linkin park(cause their songs just seem to go with the video for some strange reason...)

Actually, the movie IS connected to the games. It is a bit of an epilogue for Cloud and the others and explains the "reunion" theory from FF7. The events in the movie take place 2 years after FF7.
Dirge of Cerberus is Vincent's game and reveals his past. It happens 1 year after Advent Children.
Crisis Core - the psp one - is the story of the 5 years leading up to FF7 and incorporates events from Last Order - a cartoon showing how Zack & Cloud end up as experiments and Sephiroth's madness. :D
