Hmm, Zorbas went to Skopje for business trip!!! A, peasant on business trip!!! His daughter, also lived in Skopje, was telling other story, that family escape from terror of greeks facists. That terror never ended against Macedonians. Be real and see what your fathers and grand fathers did during civil war in Greece "the mother of civilization". In any case, Zorbas was not some important historical personality. He became famous as a hero of a book (by Greek writer Nikos Kazantzakis), of a film (by Greek director Michalis Cacoyannis) and of a song (by Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis). BTW, if this melody sounds... Turkish to you, it is obvious that your music knowledge is almost as "perfect" as your history knowledge.

This has always been a favorite piece for me, from the time I was a small child and saw Zorba the Greek for the first time.
My grandson, who is now 7, first heard this piece with me when he was about 3 and he loves it as well. He will say to me, "Grandma, let's here that song. You know the one that goes faster and faster." Thank you for adding this. It brought a smile to my face.
