I think James was ... ( 4 months ago by jemdyar17)
I think James was roguish and crude in what he did, but part of growing up is learning to be better than that, and I think James grew out of it. Otherwise Lily would never have fallen in love with him.
James was a bit ... ( 4 months ago by Funnysoundsystem)
James was a bit wayward when he was young. However, his big headedness got deflated during his 7th year.Teenagers could be cruel sometimes. Even I who hadn't bully anyone so embarrassingly during my teenaged years could't resist being indirectly involved then and again. Who doesn't at that age? I agree with Ally 171 about Snape's treatment to Harry. That doesn't mean I hate Snape. He's a flawed character, but still a hero to me.

George might've been devastated.Fred is his twin afterall.Imagine being so close with each other for years only to find out the other has died. That's why he named his son after Fred as a closure for his grief,maybe.. It's possible McGonnagall could become headmistress, unless she could find someone better.Slughorn?I doubt anyone could replace Dumbledore. The rest of the Weasleys are happily married, except for the 2nd eldest,Charles Weasley.Nothing much about him.

Personally, I adore James, despite his sometimes cruel nature - he's a true character, with perfectly realistic flaws - same for Sirius, Lily & Severus. :3 Of course, all these characters were amazingly loyal to their friends, despite their human faults.
I can't stand Remus Lupin, on the other hand. Ugh; nasty, overrated coward who never did a damn thing other than bitch & moan. ;x

I loathe them all. ... ( 1 month ago by Lotiolenti)
I loathe them all. Even Lily. Indifferent and uncaring. I don't know what I would say to people hanging upside down in front of the school, with my knickers showing. Sirius... well, he is at least loyal to Harry. James? Evil. Remus? Where is his backbone?
I see Lily as a ... ( 1 month ago by Leatherlyy)
I see Lily as a passionate girl, actually. She tried her best to accept Severus, but his bigotry towards her best friends made in incredibly hard. I see James, Lily & Sirius as being powerful enemies, but amazing friends. I don't pity Severus anymore, after DH. I thought he was a complex genius, but he turned out to be nothing more than a grotty, twatty little emo kid with a twenty year old crush.
I'm with you 100% with Remus, though. (; He's a cowardly little runt. :l
They were good ... ( 1 month ago by Lotiolenti)
They were good friends. But they were also bullies. And if they have grown out of it, it's not visible. Remus' telling Neville to imagine Snape in a dress? Sirius was nasty as ever. They never even apologised to him. And I don't think Snape's a lil Emo kid, he was just obsessed with the only person who was ever nice to him.
Well, I wouldn't ... ( 1 month ago by Leatherlyy)
Well, I wouldn't call Lily a 'bully.' If anything, Severus ended up bullying Lily, without even meaning to. I wouldn't excuse James & Sirius' behaviour if Severus' fangirls didn't excuse the fact that Snape himself joined the wizarding version of the Nazis. I don't blame Severus for being obsessed with Lily, however, I find his violence towards her husband & son disgusting. & let's not forget that Severus provoked Sirius in OOTP by mentioning James, whom Sirius adored? That was bullying, too.
No, Lily was not a ... ( 1 month ago by Lotiolenti)
No, Lily was not a bully. She was just uncaring and unobserving. And Snape is a bit of an 'eye for an eye' kinda guy. But I do see most of the violence coming from the Marauders. The Shack incident? Attempted murder. The half undressing someone in front of a whole school? That does fall under the category 'sexual assault' by definition. He wouldn't have thought that the 'light side' is any better than the 'dark side'.
i think the only ... ( 3 weeks ago by silverwolfess)
i think the only reason snape joined 'the wizarding nazies' because he figured they would protect him and help him with revenge, i do argree that the violence towards james and harry is uneccisary, but it isnt without justification.and sirius did deserve to be provoked like that because he too took part in the bullying and mistreatment
You may disagree, ... ( 3 weeks ago by Leatherlyy)
You may disagree, but you cannot deny what Severus did, or planned to do to James, Lily & Harry was cruel, thoughtless & immature, despite my love for his character. He had no right to try & 'steal' Lily from her husband & son, or harm baby!Harry in any way, no matter how cruel James & Sirius had been.
Also, I probably ... ( 3 weeks ago by Leatherlyy)
Also, I probably take Snape's torment of Sirius more (excuse the pun) seriously, because I have a strong belief that Sirius was sexually attracted to James at some time in his life, &/or in a romantic/sexual relationship with James before his death, due to his attitude in OOTP.
Severus had no plan ... ( 3 weeks ago by silverwolfess)
Severus had no plan to harm the infant, he didnt have a right to try and steal lily but if you truelly think about it james stole ehr first. and i dont remember severus 'planning' to do anything to the potters, wasnt it the rat animage who told lord voldemorte where they lived? it wasnt severus
Severus had no plan ... ( 3 weeks ago by Leatherlyy)
Severus had no plan to harm the baby, & yet he was perfectly okay with letting Voldemort murder the child? That's fucked up, if I ever saw it. Sure, James & Sirius tormented him at school, but how on earth does that justify Severus' actions? He informed Voldemort of the prophecy, & he *knew* that Voldemort would then go to kill Harry & James because of it. Sure, Peter ratted them out, but he never would have had to if Severus had kept the prophecy to himself!
Also, Lily *chose* ... ( 3 weeks ago by Leatherlyy)
Also, Lily *chose* to date/marry James. Sure, James may have flirted with her, but he never forced her into anything. He never stole her, because she was never dating Severus in the first place. Severus, however, told Voldemort himself to spare Lily's life, just so he could have her all to himself.
What proof is there ... ( 3 weeks ago by silverwolfess)
What proof is there that he did know? and of course he told voldemorte of the prophecy, otherwise others would have caught wind and then HE would have been punished for witholding information. And the child in his mind was the opitamie (excuse my spelling) of the hell he went through in his school days that mentally scarred him and warped him. and if you had the chance to get the love of your life all to yourself, wouldnt you take advantage of the oppertunity?
Severus was wholly ... ( 6 days ago by sethjohannsen)
Severus was wholly aware of his guilt in regards to Lily, and he spent as much if not more time than DD, with as much courage or more, protecting Harry from LV. He also gave his life to DD, knowing that LV would assume he had the elder wand, even if he didn't learn about it until later. And he risked harming his soul to keep DD from a protracted, horrendous death. -my 2 cents worth-

I love sev too, and if he called me a mudblood I'd pretend to knee his knob. I'm Wiccan with a Wiccan grandmother so I'm a half-blood bloody princess. As for the debate: Severus did more to protect James and Lily's son than anyone else and his guilt should be considered assauged. -my 2.5 cents worth-
