don't worry dude, just play with it, it took me at least 6 months to get the hang of it. (although i had some experience with illustrator) just remember, in inkscape you have to select and deselect things , thats the secret to know what you re doing.

Photoshop is a totally different software and serves a totally different purpose. It might be easier, but then again, you're not trying to create a perfect lightsabre drawing. This is purely for learning about the software.
