I know this interview is a couple of years old, but I thought it might be nice to add to Youtube. From what I have read on different forums the movie is supposed to have a budget on 120 million dollars. Currently they are at the stage of choosing a director.

i dont speak english but i try it, they gonna make a evangelion like an ACTION movie like a... umm... terminator or LORD OF THE RINGs (i know is a good movie, but...) and this sucks, evangelion is an very good anime , is a Psycho Anime, well i try it , is NOT an action movie example: 20th century fox with dragon ball

You are not listening, the creator of Evangelion, Hideaki Anno, APPROVES THIS, he is even joining the project as an advisor.
He allowed this, and he has Evangelion's best interests at heart, TRUST HIM.

No not even close, they don't have a cast, there's no word on if they have a complete budget yet or even a director, and WETA doesn't have the time to work on it right now.

I'm still kind of against the idea of a live action Eva movie.. but if someone has to make it, I would prefer that these guys were the ones to do it. They seem to have the right idea about Evangelion.

I'm conflicted. On the one hand, who better to do a live action Evangelion than Weta. On the other hand, can it even be done without being a massive failure? I really have no idea how they can turn such a fantasy anime into something that works in live action. If they can pull it off it might be awesome, but they've got one massive task at hand. So many problems come to mind. My main concern is that they retain the essence of the original series, and not just in an aesthetic sense.

If this movie is ever completed(and I hope it does because more people in my area need to know about it),I really hope they don't screw it up like most live action adaptations of anime(like the new dragon ball movie[barfs in mouth]).I hope they stay true to the original series.Another thing,will the CG(as I'm pretty sure there's going to be a lot)be as good as the CG from Transformers,or be as bad as the CG from Blassreiter(anime show with crappy CG)?Please don't screw it up WETA and director.

Relax, unlike Dragonball z which was just a never ending story with a really hard time to turn to live action, this will be god like, i assure you... this movie was meant to be made, its been god knows how many years since its come out, and the technology and the people for it have to be out their somewhere!
