| If McLachlan makes a similarly messaged video addressing foreign poverty, but without reference to the music video's own budget, the focus will instead be on foreign poverty. But, she chose to hold up the video as a scapegoat, insinuating music videos are contributing to the persistence of suffering. Do you agree with McLachlan's insinuation that music videos are contributing to persistent foreign poverty? If so, then do not cars, cell phones, and our other domestic expenses also deny aid? |

| Agreed. Third world countries continue to be so because they lack stability in various infrastructures. Any superlocal gains born from foreign aid are eventually lost to economic, political, and social instability. So far, Africa hasn't been able to escape its repeating history of growth followed by despair. |

| idk i don't think that's what she's trying to say at all. I think the reason she made a music video like this was because it's her way of reaching out to people who need it, through music. if she had just donated to a charity it wouldn't have made as big an impact to people as a video making this kind of statement would. i think this video is, not only about helping those who need it, but also it's about awareness. just a thought |

| Bands can make a well made video and not spend thousands on it. They dont need CGI to make the video a great video, sure it helps but there are plenty of great videos out there that dont use CGI. And no she wants you to see how much people would normally spend on some extravagant video. Sometimes people look right past the song and to the video, they think 'well the video sucks so Im not gonna watch it and listen to the song', people worry SO much about videos instead of listening to the song... |

| yes she can afford both.she has been making music for years before you were probably born, she raising awareness of america's corporate wastefulness. shes showing you that instead of making a flashy expensive music video the money can go for more meaning things that you take for granted everyday (thing i have taken for granted myself once) i am not trying to put you down beleive me because i was once like you. she spent $150,000 but she sent it to countries that need it. it shows you at the end. |

| please.. not only watch what pops up on the video but listen and look up the lyrics. they tell the story of what shes trying to do, the difference she's trying to make.. people suffer everyday for things that mean nothing to us.. and its not just americans, its other wealthy countries like our own. for once if possible dont think about how pissed you were when mom and dad didnt buy you the present you wanted most for the holidays and see how you'd feel if you didnt even have a place to live |
