I have heard of that. We do not have funnel webs here, but they are a frightening spider.
It is their ATTITUDE that makes them the most dangerous spider in the world and that is bad enough. But then their is the venom which makes it the most deadly spider in the world as well. Is very troubling to have such an animal in your country. I feel bad for Australians.

honestly they arent a big thing in Australin. i found one in my garage just this morning after not srring one one in years and i just kinda kicked it outside and walked away.
Aussies dont really think about all the dangerous spiders, snakes, etc. If we do end up comming into contact with them, we're all pretty casual about it.

If I were an Australian, I would be the exception to that rule. Poisonous or not, if I saw a spider that big with fangs like that, I would have fallen to the floor after my legs gave out and scurried with what strength I had left into the house, slammed the door, and called the local authorities to come dispose of the virulent demon in my garage.

You're right, a bus can run you over. But a bus doesn't crawl into your bed, shoes, etc. I've always have had arachnophobia no matter the species. It's certainly not a rational fear, but it's there nonetheless.
I think it's because no matter the species of arachnid, they bite or sting. Very uncomfortable.
